Activities of International Playwrights’ Forum (IPF) 2015-2017

Playwriting Competition

Since the congress in China 2011 IPF has concentrated on dramaturgy workshops but is still involved in this subject. Ursula Werdenberg, General Secretary, has advised the Philippine ITI Centre who launched a GLOBAL PLAYWRITING COMPETITION ON CLIMATE CHANGE 2015 in collaboration with the UNESCO and IPF.

Members of the Jury: Isagani R. Cruz of ITI Philippines (chair), Tobias Biancone, Director General of ITI, and Andrea Zagorski, President of IPF. The winner is Barbara Anderlič (Slovenia) with “A continental Divide”, the prize money was 5000$.

 IPF Meeting of the Office Bearers June, 26-28, 2015, Berlin

On the occasion of the „Autorentheatertage Berlin“ at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Andrea Zagorski and Ursula Werdenberg have met at the ITI Centre Germany to prepare activities for the ITI World Congress 2016 and the IPF Board Meeting in Seoul.

There were two focuses on the meeting: The future collaboration of IPF with the Korean Duo Theatre Festival in Seoul from 2016, and preparing projects for the Congress 2016.

Long-term Project: The Dramaturgy Education Program in the Philippines

The workshop series on Dramaturgy in the Philippines took place every year since 2012.

IPF Project for the Congress 2017:

International Multi-Cultural Short Plays Competition ”The Stage is our Nature”

Prof. Gad Kaynar has initiated the competition launched by IPF.

Jury: Prof. Gad Kaynar, chair (Israel), Richard Crane, playwright, (UK), Prof. Gim Chang-wha, (Korea Republic).

The 5 best winning plays will be read at the 35th ITI World Congress in Segovia.

The winners are:

Amit ZARKA with “Home“ (Israel),

Marijana VERHOEF with “The food ambassador“ (Germany),

Janice Sze Wan POON with “Small Wasted“ (Hong Kong),

Vijay PADAKI with “THERMOS. A sketch on human survival” (India),

Jaewan PARK with „Ulysses“ (Taiwan)

Additionally a mentoring program has started after the announcement of the winning plays and lasted until the end of the year 2016 – depending on the needs of the playwrights.

The readings will be presented with young actresses and actors in Segovia.
