Message from Ali Mahdi, Vice President ITI:
Albugaa Theater Company has been awarded with the International award of Freedom to Create.
As a result of our collective efforts, ongoing support and cooperation of all of you, now Albugaa Theater Company has been awarded with the International award of Freedom to Create. It’s known that this award got its international, regional and national respect and on the other hand winning this award reflects the most important role and value of arts in capacity and peace building. It has all started during our joint work to rehabilitate the former child soldiers in Malakal, the capital of the Upper Nile State in the South of our country, Sudan. Then came our thoughts regarding Theater between Two Frontiers and the outstanding cooperation between Albugaa Theater Company and The ITI Sudan & Germany precious input and our believe in ITI International. It all together resulted into enlarging our thoughts sponsored by ITI and widely supported by CIDC to reach together Theater in Conflict Zones. Due to our cooperation and ITI support and the understanding of our targets from all of you, we were able to work and work hard and transfer our performances from known luxury theaters to open spaces in areas of conflicts in Sudan and being able to add peace and unity values on ground for needy target groups. Then also we transferred our performances to the world starting from neighboring countries reaching Europe, Asia and America. It was just before the Freedom to Create prize Award Festival that Albugaa Theater Company was participating in Theater and Peace Forum for Theater in conflict zones in The US. I dedicate this award to all of you in ITI and all unknown supporters and motivators who are working for peace in conflict areas and sparing no effort for that lofty and noble goals. I believe that our Secretary General and his team in Paris have played the main role in this success and we decided together to allocate the sum of the prize to start a Medical & Cultural Center in Darfur.I’m sure that all of you are going to support us on that.
Ali Mahdi Albugaa Theater Company Vice President ITI International President ITI Sudan
